Abstract

Tutoring is considered an educational strategy that supports the student’slearning process, with the aim of contributing to minimize problemsconcerning failure, desertion or delay in the completion of program. Inthis scenario, this article refers to tutoring in the area of teaching at higherlearning: the conceptualization, characteristics, areas of focus and the roleof teachers and students. Then the work states the relevance of tutoringas an activity inherent to the work carried out by professors assessingthe relationship of help and guidance provided by the teacher (tutor) tostudents (tutored) in its different forms: personalized or in small groups,either on-campus or virtual. The final section summarizes the tutorialexperiences at the Universidad de Panama.
