The public and private universities have the challenge of complying with the demands and requirements raised by the university accreditation institutions. In this sense it cannot comply with the investigative mission, without understanding the way of construction of scientific knowledge; mainly of a necessary ordering, in terms of areas of knowledge and lines of research that makes necessary the contribution of these institutions in making decisions of governments. This article aims to raise some elements that are immersed in the dynamics of scientific production and recommending institutional adjustment actions that improve the quantity and quality of university research in Panama.
