Abstract

Pediatric obesity is a multifactorial and complex public health problem, classified by the World Health Organization as a global epidemic. This situation is alarming in Latin America and the Caribbean, with millions of children and adolescents affected. Given this reality, this study proposes virtual and digital educational strategies for nurses at the Chepo Regional Hospital, with the aim of strengthening their role in health promotion and prevention of this condition.

The overall objective of the research is to train nursing staff in the application of innovative digital tools to promote healthy lifestyles from an early age. The specific objectives include analyzing nurses' knowledge of pediatric obesity, designing educational strategy programs, and proposing their implementation in clinical practice.

A quantitative empirical methodology was used through surveys using a feasible project format. The study involved a purposively selected sample of 75 nurses, all with more than five years of experience in outpatient programs. Data collection was conducted through a structured 15-item Likert-scale survey, validated by experts, and whose reliability was assessed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient.

In conclusion, this project seeks to empower nurses as key agents in health education, providing them with innovative strategies that enhance the prevention of pediatric obesity and contribute to strengthening self-care and the adoption of healthy habits in children.
