An essay is presented that addresses the evolution of female participation throughout the history of Olympic Games and sports in general. The objective is to reflect on social and cultural factors, influenced by educational practices, which focus on gender equity in sport, identifying how education can act as an element that reproduces inequalities or, in contrast, as a transformative agent that promotes inclusion and equal opportunities for women. For this purpose, a historical tour is carried out, based on the review and analysis of documentary sources, which allows us to show that, even though there was an intention to achieve parity in terms of participation and diversity of disciplines, significant gaps persist in access, reconnaissance and structural conditions for sportsmen. The reflection concludes by highlighting the need for both sports organizations and society to promote educational strategies and inclusive policies that consolidate gender equality in the sports field.
