Abstract

This research was carried out with the aim of knowing the incidence of Cavitary (CLc) or compact Corpus Luteum (CLcom), at the time of selection for transfer of embryos produced in vitro and correlate it to pregnancy results. For the exploration of the ovaries, a portable veterinary ultrasound scanner (SIUI, CTS 800) with a linear probe of 7.5 MHz was used. From the total of synchronized females (200 cows Cebu x Holstein or Brown Swis), for embryo transfer at fixed time (ETFT). 77.5% presented ovulations evidenced by the presence of a corpus luteum on the day of the transfer. CLc presentation was slightly lower than CLcom (92 vs 63 46 vs 31.5% respectively), which could be due a mathematical trend, appreciated in this group of females. When evaluating the pregnancy results recorded by ultrasonography at day 45 after transfer, from the 155 females used as embryo recipients, the pregnancy rate was slightly higher in females that presented CLc compared to those that were diagnosed with CLcom (49.2 and 41.3% respectively); evidencing a differential in success of 7.9%, which despite not showing statistical differences, is appreciable when large projects of ETFT are projected in large farms with a high population. It is concluded that the presence of cavity in CL did not affect the pregnancy results in transfer programs using embryos produced in vitro at fixed time (TEPIVTF), so we concluded that is possible to use for ET programs both females with the presence of CLc or CLcom without affect the results of pregnancy.
