Abstract

The objective of this article is to analyze the macrostructure and superstructure as global linguistic elements in the expoxitive text developed by students in higher education. Regarding the methodology, the qualitative, descriptive-interpretive approach was used. The intervention subjects thirty-six (36) students who took the Language and Communication course for the year 2020, Faculty of Humanities, Department of Spanish, University of Panama. Participant observation was used as a technique and qualified practice was used as an instrument, through writing. For the analysis of the information the triangulation, categorization and theorization of the results. As final considerations it was obtained that in the expository texts produced by the students, although they maintain a topic, there is ignorance of the architectural organization of the text (macrostructure), lacking thematic unity and coherent relationships between paragraphs. On the other hand, the absence of one of the elements that is part of the basic structure of the expository text, the closing or conclusion, does not manage the superstructure of this type of text.
