Abstract

In Panama, the use of mobile devices has increased exponentially, forcing educational institutions and academic libraries to offer bibliographic material for this type of device. The objective of this research is to demonstrate the need to implement mobile solutions to the services of the Library System of the University of Panama. The research design used is experimental with a pre-experimental application measuring the quality of navigation and search in the digital services offered by the libraries to their users, the measurements were performed in 90% to students of the University of Panama for being the user of more presence in the academic libraries and the remaining percentage to administrative and teachers, to quantify the level of user satisfaction was used as instruments the survey, focused on a selective sample of users present in the Octavio Mendez Pereira Campus. The results indicate that users had difficulty browsing and searching for bibliographic material from their mobile devices with a 69% level of dissatisfaction for a group of users who use 40.08% of their devices daily to search on the Internet.
