Abstract

The incidence of malnutrition on kids from rural sectors generates drawbacks that directly affect growth and physical and mental development, even increasing the risk of suffer catastrophic diseases derived from undernourishment, overweight or obesity, or openly exposing health to virus due to the vulnerability of immunological system. The situation of a group of 75 minors from 6 to 12 years old from the community of Simon Bolívar in Montalvo was analyzed, in order to diagnose their nutritional state by anthropometrical method. To do so, it was executed a theoretical analysis about nutrition, malnutrition, its effects and methods of early evaluation. It was also important to execute a survey to the target group and their parents to determine its alimentary behavior, and the application of the anthropometric method to get to know their nutritional state. Malnutrition was detected in 36% on the individuals, overweight in the 19% and obesity in 9%, mainly because the preference on unhealthy products that are chosen because of lack of alimentary and nutritional culture. A strategic plan on alimentary and nutritional culture was proposed to make conscience and train families, teachers and staff from public health centers on territory, to solve the problem together.
