Abstract

This article supports the thesis that the revolutionary masses advance and then organize themselves in a hierarchy to be governed by an excellent minority. In Los de Abajo the figure of the common man is exalted, who is often perceived as part of a mass that needs to be directed by a superior force. The purpose of this research is to describe the vision of the fate of the revolutionary masses and the role played by the excellent minority in the governance of certain peoples' social, political, economic, and cultural order. This study is classified as a qualitative, descriptive, documentary, or bibliographic and literary review research. It is concluded that this work maintains a pessimistic vision of the fate of the revolutionary masses, arguing that they need to be directed by those above, those who have access to education and economic power. This conclusion suggests that the novel addresses important and relevant issues about the relationship between the masses and the ruling elites, which may have indications for the understanding of politics and society in general.
