Abstract

From a curricular diagnosis the proposal "The teaching of Applied Sociology in Higher Education" is made, the result of a curricular diagnosis. We reviewed theories and methodologies that explain the way in which teachers carry out the teaching-learning process in order to identify the most effective strategies for higher level sociology. Surveys were applied to teachers and students, as well as an instrument of interaction in the classroom of the Flanders Model. The results were presented by graphs that describe the behaviors observed and the perception of the respondents about the teaching-learning process. The proposal was designed based on adjustments to the analytical programming of four (4) courses at the Regional University Center of San Miguelito and its effective application. The background of Sociology in Panama and the conceptualization of Applied Sociology were presented. The proposal focused on the training of professionals with a critical and reflective awareness of Social Reality, as an object of study of Sociology.
