This study focused on the development of a hybrid mobile application (Android) and a web platform with geolocation features (Google Maps) and data collection of emoticon reactions and student comments. The application enabled bidirectional communication between teachers and students, providing real-time information about student´s locations, available resources, and their experiences. The collected data were used to generate analyses, reports, and graphics useful for decision-making at both the teaching and institutional levels. Furthermore, the importance of effective online communication, supported by the use of emoticons, was emphasized. The study concludes that the integration of mobile technology and geolocation in distance education will enhance the quality of teaching by providing information for educational decision making.
