An explanatory study of quasi-experimental design with a single group was carried out, where the Life with Chronic Pain program was applied, an approach based on Acceptance, by the authors Kevin E. Vowles, Ph.D. and John T. Sorrell, Ph.D. (2007), in women suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, belonging to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation of Panama (FUNARP).
The sample was chosen non-probabilistically and for convenience. The sample presented ages from 28 to 55 years. Psychological well-being was measured with the José Sánchez Cánovas Psychological Well-being Scale, before and after the intervention. Of ten participants who started the program, nine completed it. In this sample, statistically
significant results will be obtained that demonstrate the effectiveness of the program,
significantly affecting psychological well-being. Regarding the present subscales, each one of them, subjective, material, work and relationship well-being, shows statistically significant differences in the comparison of the scores before and after the application. It was possible to conclude, the program Life with chronic pain, an approach based on Acceptance, by the authors Kevin E. Vowles, Ph.D. and John T. Sorrell, Ph.D. (2007) was effective in improving the loads on the psychological well-being scale in women with rheumatoid arthritis.
