The purpose of the study was to determine self-efficacy for research among university students enrolled in psychology programs according to their academic level. The research was based on a descriptive cross-sectional design with a sample of 126 university students, covering academic levels from the second to the fifth year, including the group that chose the thesis seminar as a degree option. Was applied the instrument designed to assess research self-efficacy (AI), validated by a committee of experts, that includes five dimensions related to the tasks necessary for the development of a research project. For the results, the percentage averages for each dimension were used to assess research self-efficacy, obtaining percentages of around 70% for the information management dimension in almost all academic levels. However, in terms of the overall RE average, none of the academic levels obtained a percentage higher than 60%. It was concluded that research self-efficacy could not be demonstrated at the participating academic levels. As a recommendation, the creation of research seedbeds was proposed to promote formative research in the Faculty of Psychology.
