Abstract

The objective of this study was to isolate and identify endophytic fungi in pastures for ruminants, from the Badi, Nigüito and El Aromo farms, Corregimiento de Santa Ana, Los Santos Province. The characterization was carried out using the method of isolation of endophytic fungi in healthy pastures, yielding as a result that the farm with the highest number of positive samples of endophytic fungi was El Aromo, with 37.9%, while the Badi and Nigüito farms registered 30.3. % and 31.8% respectively. Among the genera of endophytic fungi found, we can highlight: Discosporium sp., Toxosporium sp, Fusarium sp, Alternaria sp, Nigrospora sp, Curvularia sp, Colletotrichum sp, Bipolaris sp. The endophytic fungi with the highest occurrence were: Alternaria sp with 39%, Curvularia sp with 21% and Nigrospora sp with 16%, located mostly at the apex of the leaf with 54%, while in the middle and on the leaf, base found 26% and 20% endophytic fungi, respectively. Identification was based on ITS genes 1, 2 and 4 (16 S ribosomal genes).
