Abstract

The current incorporation of neurosciences to the field of study of education is making the various professionals involved in the educational field have to train in these topics to improve the academic and personal performance of students, favoring a better comprehensive development in them . On the other hand, the educational system demands more and more professionals trained in Information and Communication Technologies not only because we are immersed in a knowledge society but also because the use of these resources is necessary to reinforce students' self-esteem. This essay raises the conceptions that primary level teachers in the Dominican Republic have about teaching and how they influence the teaching strategies applied and the different learning styles adopted by the students. It also presents the prevailing need for a teaching-learning system designed with strategies whose purpose is to enhance student learning and improve the quality of teaching. It is concluded by determining if the teaching strategies in educational practices are in harmony with the new proposed teaching and learning model, which includes neurosciences.
