Abstract

This article reflects on the visibility of women's work in rural areas in Panama, specifically in tourism projects. A reflective review is made of the profile of women entrepreneurs, economic empowerment, access to training and financing. This is based on a problematizing question: How to make the work of rural women visible and motivate other women not to abandon their territories in search of opportunities, but with guarantees of success? To address this question, it was proposed to analyze the role of women in rural tourism projects, considering the socio-demographic profile, their motivations, the availability of resources, difficulties, challenges, and opportunities; to this end, a questionnaire was developed and applied to women in five projects, located in the provinces of Panama, West Panama, and Herrera; in a period between July and September 2022.
