Executive functions can be understood as a set of cognitive abilities necessary to control and self-regulate one's own behavior. (Lezak, 1982). The undeniable link between executive functions and the development of educational competencies stands as a field of study of great relevance in psychopedagogy. The way in which these executive functions influence the learning process, the development of academic skills and the future professional work of psychopedagogy students at the University of Panama in 2023 is a topic that requires exhaustive exploration. In this analysis, it will be discussed in detail how executive functions impact the development of educational competencies, how they influence the professional development of future psychopedagogues, the possible challenges they could face in their development, and how this approach could benefit education in Panama. The general objective is to evaluate the perception of Psychopedagogy students at the University of Panama in 2023 about the influence of executive functions on their ability to organize and carry out academic tasks effectively. Regarding the methodology, it is quantitative and experimental in design, the technique used is the survey and the instrument is the questionnaire, the population is made up of 55 Psychopedagogy students. The results of the survey reveal that Psychopedagogy students at the University of Panama recognize the importance of executive functions in their academic training and future professional work. Students value the positive influence of executive functions on their ability to organize academic tasks, maintain motivation and commitment, and improve the quality of their academic results. It is concluded that executive functions play a crucial role in the development of educational competencies in Psychopedagogy students at the University of Panama.
