A detailed morphological and harmonic analysis of two representative tunes of the carnival of Las Tablas (Panama), one traditional and the other current, was conducted using ethnomusicological and musicological tools. The analysis focused on phrasing structure, three-part harmonization, the use of mambos, tonal modulations, and characteristic measures. The tunes were selected for their historical and stylistic relevance, with musical fragments transcribed and adapted by the murga directors. The results show a significant musical evolution in the composition and structure of the tunes, integrating contemporary elements such as reggaeton while maintaining traditional patterns, which demonstrates the cultural richness and creative transformation of the genre within Panamanian folklore.
