Abstract

This scientific article aimed to understand the research-based teaching strategies applied by professors in postgraduate programs at universities in neighboring countries, Costa Rica and Colombia, since we observed that most of the consulted documentation consistently cited these strategies without including Panama. Using a non-experimental, mixed-methods, analytical design, a questionnaire and interview guide were developed to triangulate the results obtained from professors in the three countries. Our alternative hypothesis was accepted with a significance level of 0.0025, and the results led us to conclude that institutional policies, reserch systems, and the dissemination of studies in accounting and finance are relevant for improving professors' competencies, which will then be transmitted to their students.
