Mental health is part of the integral health of individuals, and its influence on the well-being of children in society is fundamental because it impacts the development of a country. Children who enjoy effective mental health represent a healthy generation for the future society. The objective of this research was to examine mental health and its influence on the well-being of children in contemporary Panamanian society. The methodology used was documentary, with an exploratory-descriptive scope. Various documents related to childhood mental health at the global, regional, and national levels were analyzed. Bibliographic information was collected from the years 2019 to 2025, using reliable research databases such as Google Scholar, Dialnet, Scielo, and ScienceDirect, where descriptors in both English and Spanish were searched, employing the reference manager Mendeley. The results highlight the importance of mental health in children and adolescents for the integral development of the individual as an adult, as well as its social and economic influence on a country. The lack of policies and programs at both the regional and national levels is notable; likewise, there are not enough studies to gather information that would facilitate the study and development of this topic. In Panama, there are unfavorable aspects regarding children’s mental health in society, which makes it necessary to encourage further research.
