Abstract

Fourteen surveys of aphids were conducted in three citrus farms in the province of Cocle, between January and September 2002 checking 15-40 trees per farm. Additionally, winged aphids were collected weekly with yellow water traps to determine their population fluctuations, and this data were correlated with rainfall. Aphid species present were: Aphis spiraecola, Toxoptera aurantii and T. citricida. The most abundant aphid species in yellow traps was A. spiraecola with an important population peak in July. All species had low infestations throughout most of the study.
