Abstract

There is a large amount of knowledge about tourism that has not been effectively transferred to the productive sector in the southern area of ??Manabí. At the Southern State University of Manabí, knowledge has been transferred to the tourism sector effectively in some areas. The objective of the work is to demonstrate the contribution to the organizational strengthening of the tourism sector in the province of Manabi, which allowed to manage and disseminate the tourist attractions, through university linkage with society. The transfer and exchange of learning between community and university was carried out in the cantons of May 24, Jipijapa, Manta, Montecristi, Paján, Portoviejo, Puerto López, Rocafuerte, San Vicente and Santa Ana, through workshops, chalas, conferences and articles scientists. The most important subjects for tourism turned out to be ecology, biological diversity, tourist attractions, restoration, cultural and natural heritage, design of tourism projects, tourist information and rural tourism, among others. Better work is needed to transform scientific results into sustainable tourism practices.Keywords: transfer of results, linkage, tourism practices, tourism, Manabí
