Abstract

Sexual satisfaction is of significant importance in personal life, couple life, sexual health, psychological well-being and quality of life. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between positive and negative affect, cognitive emotional regulation and coping mechanisms on sexual satisfaction during health emergency. The study followed an observational, analytical design, from the quantitative paradigm; cross-sectional type and correlational depth level. A non-probabilistic purposive sample was used, with a sample size of 202 subjects, for a statistical power of 0.95, a probability of error of 0.05 and an effect size of 0.3, estimated using the G-Power package; subjects who were in a couple during the last 6 months of both sexes and ages between 18 and 26 years were included. Sexual satisfaction in the context of health emergency COVID 19, reports positive correlations with positive affect (r=.620**), social support coping (r=.277**), cognitive coping (r=.208**) and cognitive reappraisal (r=.180*). Sexual satisfaction during the epidemic is related to the presence of positive affect, perception of social support and the use of cognitive coping strategies. The presence of negative emotions may affect the experience of sexual satisfaction in these circumstances.
