Abstract

As very little is known about scientific initiation in Panamanian universities, the main objective of this article is to emphasize its importance and how its implementation is an imperative for universities as a vital strategic program to transform undergraduate students into researchers. For this reason, this work seeks, on the one hand, to make a synthesis on the most relevant aspects of Scientific Initiation (CI), based on bibliographic references that address all the internal aspects of the subject. On the other hand, all this theoretical foundation of the experience of Brazilian higher education institutions is proposed as a study base so that the University of Panama can use it as a model to launch its "Scientific Initiation Program (PIC-UP)".
