Abstract

This literature review highlights relevant aspects for teachers in higher education that allow them to take on and assume influential leadership roles in various academic domains, contributing to the formation process. The conceptualization of the term leadership is addressed, including the characteristics that identify it and the different leadership styles, such as transactional, laissez-faire, and transformational. Furthermore, it covers educational leadership and the various areas in which teachers assume their role as guides that impact the teaching process. Finally, the proposal presented focuses on the necessary leadership skills in educational organizations, steps for designing an educational leadership training program, and an instrument for applying educational leadership training to principals and teachers.
