Abstract

The general objective summarizes the findings of the scientific articles, doctoral theses and other documents consulted, in relation to the proposed research. That is, the data provided by these studies, directly and indirectly correlated with the influence that the media exerted on the behavior and opinion of recipients in Panama, regarding the messages they received about the coronavirus. The dates of the sources consulted are between 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. Criteria such as objectives and research results were used to select these sources. In addition, the usefulness was assessed in terms of the conclusions of these investigations and their coincidence, or not, with the proposal of the investigation on the case of Panama. The results revealed specific data that demonstrated how the media can influence the behavior of its recipients and the psychological impact that certain events have on people. The review also concluded that the media have the tools and power to influence the thinking, behavior and opinion of the recipients who consult, or who voluntarily expose themselves to, the media for information and entertainment. The research exercise provided significant information regarding the psychological impact caused by confinement, which helped to relate the analysis of media influence with the scenario experienced in Panama and other countries.
