Abstract

Wolfgang Mozart is one of the most popular and liked composers in the history of music. His biography is attractive because since he was a child he displayed his genius throughout Europe both as a performer and as a composer, finding his own voice at an age when most composers are still in their apprentice stage. Mozart mastered the art of musical composition with great command, producing works infused with exquisite taste. It is precisely because his works are so beautiful that a desire arises to know about the man who created them. Thus, the biography of this composer has also stimulated great interest among music lovers. This interest increases and takes on dimensions of intrigue due to the mysterious circumstances surrounding his death, since its real cause remains unknown. The intrigue is greater considering that he was only 35 years old when he died. The uncharacteristic conditions surrounding his death have given rise to much speculation, which in turn has led to the emergence of fictitious stories about the composer. Likewise, due to the appeal of such a young genius and given that he never held eminent posts, which was usual at the time for prestigious composers, fanciful myths also appeared around his life. By debunking the myths about Mozart and presenting the historical facts, a better perspective on his life can be obtained.
