This study seeks to analyze the current financial habits of people in the provinces of Herrera and Los Santos in relation to payment methods, use of cash and digital payments, and the factors that influence them. Due to the technological boom, the increase in digitization, and the COVID-19 pandemic, people's habits around the world have been activated and changed. A quantitative, descriptive, and explanatory methodology was used. A non-probabilistic sample of 125 people residing in the Azuero Region was considered, in which 98% have devices with Internet access and 50% use digital services daily, demonstrating high technological access and consolidation of digital practices. However, 55% combine cash and digital payments depending on the situation, and only 34% perceive digital payments as completely secure. The findings point to a trend toward digitization reinforced by technology and the COVID-19 pandemic, but limited by security fears, technological exclusion, and insufficient infrastructure that undermine confidence and full adoption. It is concluded that, although social dynamics are moving towards digital, these data reflect those social factors are evolving, but cultural and perception barriers still exist that affect the adoption of digital payments.
