Given the growth of community-based tourism, which stems from the investigation of hidden heritage sites in various territories, with the aim of sustainably exploring and exploiting resources in urban environments and improving the sector's economy in communities through the management of tourism activities, an eco-geographical study was conducted in the Mateo Iturralde district of San Miguelito, Panama province. The objective was to create a tourism inventory useful for the authorities and for integration with the community, to implement a strategic urban and community tourism project. This project is likely to create opportunities for local entrepreneurship to generate income, which will help boost the economy and improve the socio-economic status of the community. This study employed an analytical methodology, using a descriptive and exploratory approach with a cross-sectional design. Data was collected through fieldwork, employing on-site forms to identify, characterize, and categorize the attractions found in the Mateo Iturralde district. The resulting inventory revealed attractions identifiable in four categories, possessing characteristics that warrant consideration as having high tourism potential for attracting national and international visitors. The study suggests an urban tourism offering as one of the most promising avenues for developing this socio-productive activity at the neighborhood level. Beyond its economic benefits, this approach can strengthen the social fabric of this area, the birthplace of the San Miguelito district.
