A text of an informative nature is presented, aimed at potential readers of Holón magazine, with a view to its publication in the future. A historical synthesis of the José Martí University of Latin America (UMLA) is presented as a journey from its origins as an educational institution to the present, in correspondence with the mission, the educational model of the institution, the humanistic character of its academic faculty, as well as the openness to collaboration of a broad academic community that integrates professionals from various areas of knowledge and the cultural and social community itself. A text is shared that systematizes the results that have been progressively achieved on the basis of an education based on ecosophical humanism, information technologies and the contributions of comprehensive evaluation based on projects, to know how to know, know how to do, knowing how to live together and knowing how to be. It concludes with reflections on the perspectives of the development of sustainable educational projects in the post-pandemic period.
