Abstract

The following reflection article analyzes the challenges and opportunities that Ecuador presents in relation to education and citizen or civic participation in a socially and politically fragmented context. In this environment, misinformation and media manipulation contribute to the creation of information bubbles, which affect citizens' ability to participate in an informed manner in democratic life. The article emphasizes the importance of civic education, critical thinking, and media literacy as essential tools to strengthen democratic participation and promote a more inclusive and participatory society. Using a qualitative methodology and an interpretive paradigm, the article explores the social and political dynamics that fuel these divisions, highlighting the importance of creating inclusive spaces for dialogue. It concludes with the need to rethink educational processes to foster more inclusive and socially responsible participation.
