Abstract

Due to the problems, closely linked to the lack of culture and environmental education, generating the depletion and loss of essential resources or the situation of poverty or extreme poverty, environmental intervention from educational and social aspects and from a defined socio-physical context the methodology of projects as an educational tool, since it starts from the interest of the student to address issues that they arise and that arise fundamentally from daily life; hence, that the Educational Center Projects (PEC), developed as a strategy with a community vision in favor of the integral management of the environment, can promote local development, from the educational center as the first house of study of a community. This article presents the methodology applied in a study of the Center Educational Projects (PEC) that are developed in primary school institutions in the province of Veraguas (Panama), in the year 2011 and compared in 2018 with the idea to know if their management is done through socio-environmental actions and with the participation of the educational community, as a way of planning pedagogical projects that allow the incorporation of Environmental Education in the school institution, through the PEC itself. From this perspective, and the urgency of acting to respond to community socio-environmental problems, Environmental Education advances as a field of application of social education from a conceptual point of view for environmentally sustainable human development.
