To implement an algorithm for filtering patients in the area of clinical psychology to open population in a center of the National System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF) Municipal, in order to make the service provided to users more efficient and reduce the abandonment of therapeutic processes. A quantitative, prospective study with intervention was carried out. The sampling was by census of applicants for the psychology service. During both periods, 101 patients were registered, 51 in the basal phase, of which 33 were registered as discharged, obtaining the highest percentage with 64.70%. During the second phase of implementation of the filter by algorithm, 50 patients were registered, of which 11 were discharged, obtaining a decrease to 22%. Five (9.8%) referrals were made during the first phase. After the algorithm, 15 (30%) were recorded. The implementation of an algorithm for attention and referral of patients in the area of psychology to open population significantly reduces the discharges of therapeutic processes, a situation so far little explored in Psychology.
