This research aims to analyze the difficulties students face for certification in the English language at the Regional University Center of San Miguelito. For this reason, the field investigation was carried out through a questionnaire of the graduates and an interview with the teachers of the English language subject of the center. The research results were evaluated through multivariate statistical techniques to experiment and appreciate the correlations from statistical data. Then, the results of the semi-directed interviews were interpreted and supported through case studies. The results revealed the fundamental cause that students face for the certification of the English language, which has the effect of limitations to pass the certification exam of basic command of the English language present in the three levels of academic training. At levels one and two, primary and secondary, respectively, students received a low
level of training, which could not be overcome at the last level, which is the university where this subject does not meet the training criteria because its curriculum is designed for the specialized teaching-learning process to contribute to strengthening professional alignment.
