Abstract

The monotypic genus Opetiops is recorded for the first time in Panama with the capture of one female of O. alienus (Hermann) in the Province of Darien. This species was known only from Colombia, Peru and Brazil. Pantophthalmus bellardi (Bigot) is reported for the first time from Darién Province, Panamá. General aspects of the biology of the Pantophthalmidae are mentioned.
