In order to find the optimal solution to the sanitation of the Panama Bay several alternatives are discussed and a final conclusion is suggested. Basically, the paper presents the pros and the cons of managing the sewage water of the Panama City via a submarine emissary versas a waste water treatment plant. In conclusion, the arguments of technical, economical, and social character favor the application of the submarine emissary and subsequent dilution over the application of the sewage water treatment plant.
