Abstract

Environmental sustainability seeks to achieve the preservation of natural resources for future generations through their distribution and responsible use, favoring an economic, social and environmental balance. This study, titled, “Environmental sustainability: a university social responsibility with community participation,” aims to measure the knowledge, attitudes and practices that C.E.B.G. teachers have. Toribio Lora Puche in relation to Environmental Sustainability and its application in the formal curriculum of the Educational System, at the level they teach and in turn, seeks to develop a plan of educational interventions that responds to the diagnosis obtained. The methodology consisted of an exploratory descriptive study with a quantitative approach using a survey as a research technique aimed at 22 teachers from C.E.B.G Toribio Lora Puche, Chame, Sora. Results: It was evident that a large part of the teachers demonstrate that they have knowledge of environmental issues, which in turn convert them into practices that are also implemented in their classes and community, favoring the conservation of the environment. In the context of the development of educational interventions focused on diagnosis, an approach was determined aimed at reinforcing the need to carry out good practices in favor of the environment, as well as leading to reflection on self-care, the importance of recycling and having a sustainable planet. Conclusions: Environmental sustainability is essential for the long-term survival of our planet. It requires a global commitment to conservation, responsible resource management and the adoption of practices that minimize environmental impact. Therefore, the implementation of educational activities focused on environmental conservation within school classrooms is essential, since habits in favor of the environment are created or reinforced, as well as awareness and responsibility towards the care of nature is created.
