This is an approach to the contributions of the visual arts through university social service, highlighting how through the arts a bridge is established between the university and the community; between the public or beneficiaries and their personal growth as citizens; and between students and their artistic and professional growth. In this sense, it is seen that the application of artistic knowledge as part of social service, observed from art-society relations, has various repercussions that will be presented in an exploratory manner in this article; It will be this way because stopping at each one of them entails carrying out varied studies that require greater depth. The participation of the students at the School of Visual Arts, since the beginning of the implementation of the social service, has been highlighted by the traces they have left in the communities where these projects have been developed, through which they have reached, for example, to schools, university spaces, populations at social risk and groups with special needs, among others. In all these cases, the visual arts as part of the beneficiaries' experiences have been fundamental in bringing the university closer to the community, as it is a component full of humanity, capable of bringing together the actions and emotions of individuals through artistic manifestations.
