Abstract

Educational systems based on digital technology bring with them a hidden curriculum: The learning of social behavior in learning networks and the management of the technology on which they are based. Due to the social conditions and the historical development of the country, a high percentage of the adult population is digitally illiterate, they use the basic systems of daily life in a modern society with the limitations of those who do not know the digital language. Of those who are not, a significant percentage is digital immigrant. It means that the members of this group acquired their computer skills in adulthood and as a result of a job need. For this, they resorted to their own practice, and discovery, of self-training or computer learning environments. This situation also occurs in the universities of Panama where an, interesting, percentage of teachers is digital immigrant and impart knowledge through the multimedia system. The information and assessment that they can offer on the computer systems that favor computer learning can be considered as expert opinion. The present article is the assessment, of an expert population sample, on the characteristics of the platform of the University of Panama that allow, and promote, the learning of computer science through the use of the multimedia tools of the university. It is a qualitative, descriptive investigation of the measurable characteristics of the friendliness of the Virtual Learning Environments of the main university in the country.
