Abstract

Relationship between livestock and impacts of environmental resources reported in the period 2011-2015 in Panama was evaluated. Data were retrospective and taken from INEC. Comparative analyzes were performed using univariate and multivariate techniques. Trend of affected resources number was estimated using a regression model. Interrelation of the variables evaluated was established through a Principal Component Analysis. All analyzes were performed in the statistical computing environment R. Results allowed estimating that in approximately 9% of the national territory there was a greater number of environmental damages. Damages were related in part to the presence of cattle. All groups identified had a direct or indirect impact on the presence of cattle, a presence that affected water resources and forests and protected areas. Damages to the marine fauna related to presence of cattle and registered were related to existence of human settlements.
