This study points out the importance of the Sonnet as a poetic genre. We will see the sonnet A Key in East Lansing by Jorge Luis Borges. We base our research on the various theories developed by the Russian formalists on semantic theory.
Concepts based on the use of language that postulate the existence of a literality, in the literary nature of the text. We managed to state a pedagogical model of the aforementioned sonnet of Borges, from the linguistic point of view, based on the semiotic perspective, to interpret the aesthetic message from the semantic and pragmatic syntactic codes of the sonnet: a key in East Lansing, by Jorge Luis Borges.
