Abstract

The disposal of garbage is a very important issue for the development of a community, as is the case of the community of Chepo, which has a garbage dump very close to the neighborhood. The population of the community in Chepo through the years has grown to be very close to the garbage dump, becoming a disease agent. This investigation will be focused on evaluating the community in different aspects to consider possible negative effects by the garbage dump. Thus, this investigation will be a promoter agent to establish strategies to provide a better quality of life to its citizens.

A descriptive investigation was conducted through surveys of different entities related with the garbage disposal in the garbage dump and its consequences, such as the municipality, MINSA, CSS and also the people of the community of Chepo. After the collected data was analyzed in graphics; this data will determine the importance of dealing with the problem of garbage disposal in another type of dumps that do not affect the health of Chepo residents.

As an alternative to garbage disposal, it is proposed to establish recycling plans in the community and reuse materials to prevent more garbage from going to the open-air dump. The main alternative that has a high impact in this investigation is to educate the population, who are the ones that produce this high content of garbage.
