Abstract

The objective of the research is to evaluate the dimensions of the learning techniques and motivation in the teaching-learning process of English as a second language in the Regional University Center of San Miguelito. Therefore, the field exploration is carried out through the application of a survey and an interview to the study subjects. Survey data will be assessed using multivariate statistical techniques to test and estimate causal relationships based on statistical data and qualitative assumptions about causality. They are interpreted and based on the results of the interviews through case studies. The results lead to the conclusion that the English language teaching model in the Regional Center responds to conventional and innovative learning techniques and is based on the exaltation of the interrelation and self-determination of the learner. In addition, it endorses extrinsic motivation, which beyond the physical and cognitive capacities of the learner, develops a positive attitude to overcome the obstacles that arise in the teaching-learning process of the language under study; as well as situations and problems inherent in the way to reach the goals.
