The objective of this research work was to elaborate a Tourism Inventory as a Basis for Local Development in the District of La Chorrera, West Panama. It is of a descriptive and exploratory type, since it allowed covering the characteristics, identifying each one of the elements and their correlation, within the socio-cultural and economic context, which is a fundamental factor for the development of tourism activities. The design is non-experimental of transversal cut, because the variables were not manipulated, only observed and represented, through the process of recording, as a technique used for the collection of information coming from the field work, where the tourist inventory forms were used for their categorization by type and subtype, allowing results that identified the main tourist sites found for the district under study, represented mainly by (21) natural sites, (6) places within the category cultural manifestations, within the folklore category (8); in the technical achievements category (2), and the scheduled events (12), which complement with secondary activities, likewise, the exposition of a high tourist potential within the area in question is concluded to be included as a tourist destination of great interest for national and foreign visitors, thanks to its quantity, quality and diversity of attractions located over the entire extension of the district territory.
