Abstract

The purpose of the present study is an analysis of the social context in which indigenous women participated in the human group in Natá in pre-Hispanic times and their contributions to social development, despite the fact that their traces appear imprecise and even faded in historical records. where the androcentric approach prevails, ignoring the leading role of women since that period. This reflection is intended as a recognition to dignify and honor mainly this group of aboriginal women and also all those from this historical stage, forgotten in archives, chronicles and museums, but who persist in the memory of intangible culture. It should be noted that this androcentric perspective predominated in the ancestral worldview, however, its presence in the immaterial or intangible culture is perceptible due to its role in the social, economic, educational, religious, spiritual and cultural environment in which it worked. Supported by the definition of cultural heritage given by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO, 1972), we will make visible the contributions of this human group at a certain moment in the history of Panama. For this study, the social and political context that enhanced the strategic place that Natá was in the world panorama of the conquest and colonization of the Spanish on the American continent will be taken into account, and the values ??of pre-Hispanic culture will be rescued, especially in matters of gender.
