Abstract

Biosecurity supplies, used to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, protect physical health and reduce disease transmission. The hermetic covers of the supplies already discarded represent the key to the containment of the health emergency due to the pandemic. This research aims to analyze the final disposal of COVID -19 waste in the community of La Villa de Los Santos in the year 2021. The transept, where the research was carried out, is located in La Villa de Los Santos, province from Los Santos; it began at the San Juan de Dios Polyclinic up to the athletics field of the Professional and Technical Institute of Azuero. All this tour was carried out with the application of a validated instrument to categorize and carry out counts observed on the road and on both sides of it. The data was processed with the Microsoft Excel 2016 program. Where the use of masks yielded the highest values ??distributed as follows: in the first place, the values ??of June with 85.7%, in second place, May 77.5% and in the second place, month of March with 73.7%, in third place. Regarding all the masks, during the investigation, 76.4% of the waste used to protect themselves from COVID-19 was thrown away.
