Abstract

The present research aimed to analyze the role of artificial intelligence as part of pedagogical innovation in initial teacher training. Through a case study, it seeks to explore how AI is being integrated into teacher training programs. The research design was mixed with quantitative and qualitative data. The type of research was exploratory. The population group was the State University of Milagro with a sample of 50 students of the basic education degree in the evening session. Among the tools used, the questionnaire on the use of artificial intelligence tools and platforms in the classroom by the authors Del Puerto and Esteban (2022) is detailed. The results obtained in this study suggest that the implementation of AI in university education has great potential to improve learning outcomes and promote the development of key skills for the 21st century where teachers sought to develop in students’ skills such as critical thinking, creativity and collaboration, through activities that promoted the use of AI.
