Abstract

The work outlines biopsychosocial characteristics related to the development of COVID-19 affectation and its impact on mental health. Between March and December 2020, systematic searches of secondary sources on national and international texts, articles and research were carried out, using electronic search engines of scientific journal portals and institutional repositories. Various ethical, political, educational perspectives of the problem in the everyday environment were examined. It is highlighted that the quarantine generated stress-related behaviors that negatively modified the psychological well-being of the Panamanian population. COVID-19 pandemic generates psychosocial disorders in the general population and although there are many aspects that affect mental health, reading and reflection are invited to motivate and act to lift spirits, face the crisis, help others and build a humane, fair and balanced society. Reflections and actions are proposed through reading for the biopsychosocial care of the population.
