Abstract

This research project aims to determine a methodology for the design and creation of MOOC courses that help teachers at the University of Panama improve the level of knowledge and appropriation of e-assessment. It is based on the principles provided by constructivism and the theory of connectivism, from a methodological perspective it is within the quantitative paradigm and a deductive analytical approach, supported by mixed sources (documentary and field). The members of the population under study are made up of teachers who worked in the academic period of the second semester of 2023. The population was established from the data maintained by the University of Panama. The sample is probabilistic. The method of choosing teachers is random and taking into consideration their field of work. To address and process the information, descriptive statistics were applied. It was concluded that the training needs of higher education teachers at the University of Panama indicate that it is urgent to carry out a diagnosis to understand the interests and training needs by carrying out training on this basis, providing complementary training for the teaching renewal of higher education. This approach guarantees contextualized offers that motivate them to undertake training; Likewise, the results show that teachers recognize the need to train in topics related to their teaching functions, emphasizing the aspects of e-evaluation since a large proportion of them carry out activities not only teaching, but also research, extension and assigned academic management activities.
