The objective of this article is to present the current situation of knowledge management and communication in the Faculty of Informatics, Electronics and Communication (FIEC) at the University of Panama, of the administrative and teaching staff with administrative positions; this was achieved by analyzing the data obtained from the surveys, interviews with the personnel involved and the application of other techniques such as observation and review of documents. It was found that the exchange of information between the administrative units, both internal and external, does not cover all the needs of knowledge management and communication, in addition there is no structured work methodology. In this sense, we can deduce that we are facing a problem that affects various processes, for this reason, we infer that these must be automated to carry out a better control of knowledge management and communication.
